CUBARA is a visual artist and photographer based in London.
Her understanding of form, shape, composition, and light is shaped by her background in both fine art (sculpture) and architecture.
She combines her academic training with artistic sensitivity, technical precision, and admiration for detail to capture the essence and character of places, structures, and buildings.
Photography has always been a significant part of her life. As a child and teenager, she experimented with analogue techniques in her father's hobbyist darkroom and later developed her interests through after-school youth photography and film discussion clubs.
In 2023, she began exploring how her background and applied photography can translate into contemporary and fine art photography as a medium. She joined FEPS, a photographic society affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain, to enhance her skills and receive feedback through competitions. During her first 2023-2024 season, she won the Martin Trophy for photographic prints, earning first prize. You can read more about these recognitions here.
Cubara is more interested in the 'whys' of photography than the 'hows.' She uses photography as a tool for self-discovery and to understand, define, and find meaning in her surroundings. Like a researcher with a critical mind, she freezes moments in time to explore the psychological layers and meanings of the visible world, ultimately embracing the subjectivity of her own findings and metaphors.
Her earlier visual record (2016-2022) - mostly observational shots focused on architectural and cultural explorations - is available on Instagram account @Next.Dimension
